Sarah Ella is a Nashville-based artist who plays with all mediums to create multifold texture and finish. She is drawn to the fine lines of geometry and is known for her unique geometric compositions.
All works are created using a mix of acrylic, watercolor, oil, oil pastel, charcoal, and oil crayon on gallery-wrapped, satin-sealed, and wired canvas. Lately, pastel has really been having a moment in my studio—the softness it brings when layered over watercolor, oil, and acrylic adds a beautiful complexity. I love the way the water introduces movement and a gentle flow of pastel hues, while the combination of 4–5 mediums adds rich texture and depth.
